Senior Designer

The Associated Press seeks a Senior Designer to join their branding and design team. Help us shape the future of our digital experiences and products by leading the design and development of AP’s unified branding and design system. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to make a difference across the organization by creating elegant and efficient designs and design systems that support internal teams and our end users.

As Senior Designer you’ll:

• Lead the evolution of AP’s design system across branding, marketing, communication and digital product design
• Drive principles of clear, elegant, and creative branding and product design across the organization
• Lead efforts around component documentation, branding and design guidelines, and integrating new design patterns into the system
• Proactively draw from data analytics and user research to uncover insights and use them to inform design decisions
• Work hands-on as an individual contributor doing UX, visual and branding design to support a diverse range of internal teams
• Bring new ideas and perspectives to a wide range of projects including events, brand campaigns, environment design, web/digital, and internal programs
• Provide technical support to internal teams
• Help ensure consistency and excellence in branding

Requirements:

• A portfolio that clearly demonstrates proficiency in UX, visual design and branding
• Front-end development skills are a plus
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams
• Excellent communication skills
• Highly organized, detail oriented and self-motivated
• Creative thinker and strategist who is able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Able to articulate and defend design decisions with grace, logic and data

Authorization to work in the U.S. will be mandatory.  Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English is required.
