Delta Air Lines, Inc. has the following opening for a Senior Developer in Eagan, Minnesota. Designs, codes, tests, evaluates, implements, and supports various applications and products in support of the Airport Customer Service organization. Provides consultation and direct technical support in life cycle planning, problem management, integration, and software programming. Implements releases, upgrades, and/or changes into the environment. Ensures platform performance and availability meet enterprise objectives through monitoring, timely service restoration, and tuning. Duties may include capacity planning, workload modeling, system maintenance/administration, and diagnostics. Understands business requirements in order to provide the technical design of computer software. Prepares and reviews estimates for tasks and/or projects. Utilizes programming expertise in the Java/J2EE programming language in order to develop and maintain computer software. Develops appropriate software and documentation according to Delta standards. Supports and troubleshoots computer systems as required, optimizing performance, resolving problems, and provide timely follow up on all problems. Follows Delta standards and methodologies in the development and implementation of computer software. Works/consults across multiple projects; functions as an informal leader. Works on complex projects that require subject matter expertise. Provides supervision, direction, tools, and process support to less senior employees. Designs and outlines solution architectures providing conceptual, logical and application level design. Designs and develops solutions with multiple technologies, complex environments and determines which is appropriate for the situation. Prepares and executes unit, system, and integration test scripts within multiple environments. Clearly documents work products and reviews and contributes to the documentation across multiple projects. 40 hours per week. Less than 5% travel to Delta headquarters in Atlanta.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, and five years of experience in application design and development.
Specific Skills or Other Requirements:
Must have:
o Five years of work experience with application development using Oracle databases
o Three years of work experience with transforming business and functional requirements into technical solutions and development of web services in Java and consuming web services including JAX-RPC and JAXWS; and
o One year of work experience with producing and consuming messages using MQ Messaging; using IBM WebSphere application and web servers to produce or support applications; using front end web technologies and frameworks including HTML, HTML5, CSS, Javascript, SOAP, REST, API, AJAX, Spring and Hibernate; using XML, XML Schemas, JMS and EMS; performing Object-oriented design and documenting that design in diagrams and documents; and implementing SDLC from design through production using Agile or Waterfall methodologies.
